Retention-first edits
Pacing, cold opens and cuts driven by where viewers actually leave, read from your retention graphs.
A beautifully cut video that loses people at ninety seconds has failed. We edit to hold attention, then cut everything down into short-form afterward.
Most YouTube video editing services are sold on craft: color, sound design, motion, a fast turnaround. All of that is table stakes. None of it explains why a well-made video loses half its audience in the first ninety seconds.
Retention is an editing problem before it is a content problem. The cold open, where the first cut lands, how long a point is allowed to breathe, when to drop a graphic and when to let someone finish a sentence. We edit against the retention graph of the last video, not against a brief.
The second thing we do is content repurposing, which is a dull name for the highest-leverage habit in this work. One properly built long-form video contains four to six short-form pieces. Filming separately for Shorts, Reels and TikTok is the most common way brands double their costs without doubling anything else.
We are a YouTube content agency, not a production house for hire, so the editing is connected to the channel it is going onto. The thumbnail gets made while the edit is still open. The title is written before the video is locked, because a video that cannot be titled usually has a structural problem worth fixing first.

Packaging is part of the edit, not an afterthought once the video is done.
Every long-form video cut down into short-form for Shorts, Reels and TikTok, rather than filming separately for each.
Charts, callouts and lower thirds where they clarify something. Not decoration for its own sake.
Burned-in captions for short-form, accurate subtitles on long-form, chapters on everything.
One look across the channel so videos read as a body of work rather than a series of one-offs.
Or we film it. Either way we start from the raw material and the script it came from.
Structure before polish. We agree the shape of the video before anyone colors a frame.
Title and thumbnail options while the edit finishes, so the video is not packaged in a rush on publish day.
The long-form video becomes several short-form pieces, cut to work without the context around them.
